Improve your English-speaking skills with real-life conversations between two friends. Learn what to say, what to avoid, and how to speak with correct grammar. This practical guide helps you gain fluency in everyday situations.
Introduction
Many Hindi speakers hesitate to speak English due to fear of mistakes. The key to fluency is daily practice and understanding what to say and what not to say in conversations.
In this lesson, two friends, Rahul and Amit, practice English in real-life situations like greetings, ordering food, and casual discussions. We will also highlight grammatical mistakes and their corrections.
1. Daily Greetings & Small Talk
Conversation 1: Meeting a Friend
🔹 Scenario: Rahul meets Amit after a long time.
👉 Wrong:
❌ Rahul: Hey Amit, how you are? (Incorrect sentence structure)
❌ Amit: I am fine. What about you? (Fine is correct but “I’m good” sounds more natural.)
✅ Correct:
✔️ Rahul: Hey Amit, how are you?
✔️ Amit: I’m good! What about you?
✔️ Rahul: I’m doing great. Long time no see!
✔️ Amit: Yes, it’s been a while. Let’s catch up!

🔹 Key Learning:
- Use “How are you?” instead of “How you are?”
- Use “I’m good” instead of “I am fine” for natural conversation.

✅ Correct:

✔️ Waiter: Sure! Would you like sugar in it?
✔️ Rahul: Yes, a little sugar, please.

3. Asking for Directions
Conversation 3: Finding a Location
🔹 Scenario: Rahul is lost and asks for directions.
👉 Wrong:
❌ Rahul: Where is the market? Tell me fast. (Sounds rude)
❌ Stranger: Go straight, then right. (Not wrong, but incomplete)
✅ Correct:
✔️ Rahul: Excuse me, could you please tell me where the market is?
✔️ Stranger: Sure! Go straight, then take a right. The market is on your left.
🔹 Key Learning:
- Instead of “Tell me fast”, say “Could you please tell me?”

✔️ Amit: What do you do after that?
