Agartala: The sporting landscape of Tripura is witnessing a revolutionary transformation through the Tripura Talent Search Program. This initiative, led by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, is aimed at identifying and nurturing young athletes from every corner of the state.

Launched on February 4, 2025, the program saw an overwhelming response, with 34,571 aspiring athletes participating from 247 zones, covering all blocks, municipal councils, urban panchayats, and municipal corporation areas.

This remarkable achievement was highlighted by Tinku Roy, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, during a press conference at the State Secretariat on March 20, 2025.

“For the first time, we have initiated a structured talent search across the state, aiming to spot and develop athletes with extraordinary potential from a young age.”

The program focused on two age groups – 10 years and 14 years – offering opportunities in sports such as football, kho-kho, kabaddi, and athletics.

Journey from Local Grounds to State-Level Recognition

The Tripura Talent Search Program was designed in multiple stages:

✅ Local-Level Trials: Conducted across municipal councils, urban panchayats, blocks, and municipal corporation areas. ✅ Subdivision & District Rounds: The most promising athletes advanced to tougher district-level competitions. ✅ State-Level Championship: The top-performing young athletes will now compete at the grand state finale on March 21, 2025, at Umakanta Ground, Agartala.

This multi-tiered approach ensures that the best talents are selected, refined, and given a platform to shine at higher levels of competition.

Bringing Technology into Sports Development: TSSB Live App 📱

To enhance efficiency and transparency, the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports joined hands with the Information Technology Department to introduce the TSSB Live App.
