🔢 PART 1: Multiplication Shortcuts

---

✅ 1. Urdhva Tiryagbhyam Sutra

📌 Meaning: Vertically and Crosswise
📌 Use: Multiply any number quickly

👉 Example: 23 × 14

Step-by-step:

1. Units: 3×4 = 12 → 2 (carry 1)
2. Crosswise: (2×4 + 3×1) = 8 + 3 = 11 → Add carry: 12 → 2 (carry 1)
3. Tens: 2×1 = 2 → Add carry: 3
   ✔️ Answer: 322

💡 Works for 2-digit, 3-digit, 4-digit multiplication!

✅ 2. Multiplication Near Base (Nikhilam Sutra)

📌 Meaning: All from 9 and the last from 10
📌 Use: Multiply numbers close to base 10, 100, 1000

👉 Example: 98 × 97 (near 100)

• Deficit from 100: 98 = -2, 97 = -3
• Cross-subtract: 98 – 3 = 95
• Multiply remainders: 2×3 = 06
  ✔️ Answer: 9506

👉 Example: 104 × 106

• Surplus: +4 and +6
• Cross-add: 104 + 6 = 110
• Multiply surplus: 4×6 = 24
  ✔️ Answer: 11024

✅ 3. Multiplication of numbers ending with same digits

👉 Example: 43 × 43

• Use (a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b²
  = (40 + 3)² = 1600 + 240 + 9 = 1849

---

✅ 4. Multiplication of numbers like 11, 101, 1001

🧠 Super-fast trick!

👉 67 × 11 =
Split: 6 _ 7 → Add: 6 + 7 = 13
Answer: 6 → 13 → 7 → Carry over: 737

👉 54 × 101 = 5454
👉 32 × 1001 = 32032

💡 Shortcut: Just place the number twice, spaced with 0s.

🧮 PART 2: Division Shortcuts

✅ 1. Nikhilam Division (Near Base Division)

📌 Use: Divide by numbers like 9, 99, 999, 11, 101 etc.

👉 Example: 1225 ÷ 99

• Base = 100, Diff = 1
• Left: 12, Right: 25
• 12 + 25 = 37
  ✔️ Quotient: 12, Remainder: 37

📌 Similar trick works for 999, 9999 divisions.

✅ 2. Short Division by 9, 11, 99

👉 Example: 243 ÷ 9

Step 1: First digit: 2
Step 2: Add next digit: 2+4 = 6
Step 3: Add next: 6+3 = 9
✔️ Quotient: 27, Remainder: 0

✅ 3. Direct Shortcut for Dividing by 5, 25, 125

✅ Divide by 5 = Multiply by 2 and move decimal 1 place left

👉 Example: 145 ÷ 5 = 145 × 2 = 290 → Move decimal = 29.0

✅ Divide by 25 = Multiply by 4 and move decimal 2 places left

👉 Example: 800 ÷ 25 = 800 × 4 = 3200 → Move decimal = 32.00

✅ Divide by 125 = Multiply by 8 and move decimal 3 places left

👉 Example: 1000 ÷ 125 = 1000 × 8 = 8000 → Move decimal = 8.000

✅ 4. Digital Root Division Checking

✅ Use digital root (sum of digits till single digit) to verify division/multiplication

👉 Example:
Check: 27 × 12 = 324
DR(27) = 9, DR(12) = 3 ⇒ 9×3 = 27 → DR = 9
DR(324) = 9 ⇒ ✔️ Match!
