Market Holiday – 78th Independence Day

Indian stock markets remained closed today, August 15, in observance of the 78th Independence Day. Both the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) and NSE (National Stock Exchange) did not conduct trading sessions.


August 14 – Market Recap

On the day before the holiday, August 14, equity benchmarks ended marginally higher after a volatile session, aided by gains in IT, pharma, and financial stocks. The rally came amid softer U.S. inflation data and optimism for a possible U.S. Federal Reserve rate cut.

Closing Figures (August 14):

  • Sensex: 80,597.66 (+57.75 points, +0.07%)
  • Nifty 50: 24,631.30 (+11.96 points, +0.05%)

Both indices snapped a six-week losing streak, posting around 1% weekly gains.
