India vs West Indies 2nd T20I: Match Story

West Indies produced a remarkable chase in Ranchi, overcoming India’s imposing total of 249/5 to reach 252/4 in 18.3 overs. The six-wicket victory levelled the five-match series at 1-1.

India appeared to have posted a daunting total after a powerful batting display. Sanju Samson led the charge with 82 from 41 balls, while Tilak Varma added 44 from only 18 deliveries. Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer also made valuable contributions as India reached 249/5 from their allotted 20 overs.

The West Indies chase began under serious pressure when Mayank Yadav struck twice in consecutive deliveries during the early stages. The visitors were reduced to a difficult position, but the chase changed dramatically through an explosive partnership between Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford.

Hope and Rutherford attacked with extraordinary intent, repeatedly finding the boundary against India’s spin and pace options. Their partnership transformed a demanding chase into a realistic target.

Rutherford eventually fell for 84, but the West Indies did not lose momentum. Romario Shepherd arrived and continued the assault before Hope completed a brilliant unbeaten century.

Hope finished on 102 not out from 45 balls, while Shepherd remained unbeaten on 34 from 13 deliveries. West Indies crossed the finish line at 252/4 after 18.3 overs to complete a six-wicket victory.
