10 Powerful Facts About Yogita – The Young Indian Race Walker Chasing Big Dreams

Introduction: A Determined Athlete With Big Dreams

In the world of athletics, success often begins with a dream and the courage to chase it despite challenges. Yogita, a young Indian race walker, is one such inspiring athlete who has proven that determination and hard work can turn dreams into achievements.

Coming from a middle-class family, with her father working as a farmer and her mother as a housewife, Yogita’s journey was never easy. Yet, with the strong support of her family and guidance from her coaches, she transformed her passion for sports into a promising career. Today she is known as a four-time national medalist and an international representative of India, making her one of the emerging talents in Indian race walking.

1. A Humble Beginning in a Farmer’s Family

Yogita was born into a simple middle-class family where life was not always easy financially. Despite the challenges, her parents always supported her dreams and encouraged her to pursue athletics. Yogita often says she feels lucky to have such a supportive family who believed in her even when resources were limited.

2. Her Athletic Journey Started With Running

Interestingly, Yogita did not begin her journey with race walking. At the age of 13, she started running at her local ground every day because her dream was to join the Indian Army.

Those early days of running helped her build stamina and discipline, laying the foundation for the athletic career she would soon begin.

3. The Coach Who Discovered Her Talent

After about a year of training, Yogita’s potential was noticed by Coach Parveen. Recognizing her ability, he spoke with her family and encouraged them to allow her to train professionally.

He later took her to Tohana and introduced her to race walking, a sport that would soon change her life completely.

4. State Medal in Just Six Months

After starting race walking under Coach Parveen’s guidance, Yogita improved quickly. Within just six months, she won a state-level medal, proving that she had the talent and determination needed to succeed in athletics.

This achievement boosted her confidence and motivated her to aim for bigger goals.

5. Winning a National Bronze Medal

Yogita continued training hard, and within one year, she achieved another major milestone—winning a bronze medal at the national level.

For a young athlete from a modest background, this moment was incredibly special and marked the beginning of her recognition in Indian athletics.

6. A Challenging Move to Bengaluru

Later, when Coach Parveen moved to the United States, he ensured that Yogita’s training continued by sending her to Bengaluru to train under Coach Gurmeet Singh.

However, her first year there was very difficult. She had to stay outside the training center, cook her own food, and manage daily responsibilities alongside intense training.

7. Turning Struggles Into Success

Even with these challenges, Yogita never gave up. Her dedication soon paid off when she won a silver medal within six months of training in Bengaluru.

Just four months later, she achieved an even bigger success by winning a gold medal, proving her determination and growth as an athlete.

8. Representing India Internationally

One of the proudest moments of Yogita’s career came when she got the opportunity to represent India in an international competition.

For a young athlete from a small background, wearing the Indian jersey and competing internationally was a dream come true.

9. Selection at the National Centre of Excellence

Yogita’s consistent performances led to her selection at the NCOE (National Centre of Excellence) in Bengaluru, one of the best training centers for athletes in India.

This facility provides professional training, better infrastructure, and support systems that are helping her continue progressing in her athletic career.

10. Gratitude for Family and Coaches

Yogita always expresses deep gratitude to the people who supported her journey:

  • Her parents, who believed in her dreams
  • Her younger sister Deepika, who constantly motivates her
  • Coach Parveen, who discovered her talent
  • Coach Gurmeet Singh, who continues to guide her training

Their encouragement and support have played a crucial role in shaping her career.

Conclusion: Walking Toward a Bright Future

Yogita’s journey from a farmer’s daughter to an international athlete is a powerful story of perseverance and courage. Starting with simple running practice at a village ground, she went on to win national medals and proudly represent India.

Her story proves that success does not depend on background or resources—it depends on hard work, determination, and belief in one’s dreams.

As she continues to train and compete, Yogita is steadily walking toward a bright future and has the potential to become one of the important names in Indian race walking.
